Many gather to celebrate the Hyams Pilgrimage at Elvira Rota Village

May 13, 2025 | News

Bapsfontein came alive on Saturday, 10 May, as buses brought people from far and wide to celebrate the annual Hyams Pilgrimage at Elvira Rota Village. The event honoured the enduring legacy of Domitilla and Danny Hyams, founders of the Little Eden Society.

Domitilla spearheaded the creation of the home in Edenvale, which opened in 1967. Elvira Rota Village followed, offering ongoing care and community to those in need. Domitilla passed away in 2011, with Danny following the next year, yet their vision lives on.

This year’s celebration coincided with Domitilla’s birthday on 7 May, marking a heartfelt tribute to the couple’s unwavering compassion.
