How amazing it is to finally be able to welcome Fidesco volunteers back into our Homes! We are absolutely delighted to have two young ladies from France travel to South Africa to spend time with our residents for six months.
26-year old Clémence worked as a dental assistant but felt a deep desire to help others. When she signed up as a volunteer, she had no idea where Fidesco would place her, but is very happy to be at LITTLE EDEN.
“I really wanted to change my way of living,” she explained. “I felt the desire to spend a year of my life helping others, and learning about a different way of life.”
Madeleine had always wanted to share her life with people that she felt were less fortunate. “I really wanted to live a simple life, love people more, be more accepting and work on being a better person,” she said.
She says the residents at LITTLE EDEN inspire her on a daily basis; they continuously amaze her with their different abilities despite having profound intellectual disabilities. “I was so touched the first time I attended Mass at Elvira Rota Village in Bapsfontein with the residents … the way they were praying was simple, heartwarming and touching,” she said.
More recently, another three volunteers have joined us – Marie and Thais, also from France, and Daniele from Italy. We hope your stay will be a memorable one.
