For over five decades, the Little Eden Society has opened its heart and home to those with profound intellectual disabilities, creating a sanctuary of compassion and dignity in South Africa. Every day since 1967, we’ve embraced the sacred mission of caring for these extraordinary individuals who touch our lives with their pure spirits.

Who Can Apply?

At Little Eden, we provide lifelong care for children and adults with profound intellectual disabilities who need full-time support.

To ensure we meet each resident’s needs with the highest level of care, we follow specific admission criteria. Please review the guidelines below to see if your loved one qualifies for placement.

Severe or Profound Mental Disability

All assessments must specifically state “ severe or profound mental disability.”

Proof of Residence

Applicant must have lived in Gauteng for at least the past 2 years.

Household Income

  • Household income must be R5,000 or less per month.
  • A minimum fee of R500/month (from the Care Dependency Grant if under 18) is required.

Admission Process

Document Submission

Submit all required documentation within 7 days to initiate the process.

Application Review Committee

Once your complete application is received, the board will review all materials.

Assessment

Your loved one will be invited for an on-site evaluation.

Age and Mobility

We accept young children from 3 years old who are preferably not yet walking.

Medical Requirements

No tubes of any kind are allowed (e.g., feeding tubes, catheters).
