LITTLE EDEN has two residential Homes where children and adults with profound intellectual disability enjoy a loving, permanent home for the rest of their lives. We provide 24-hour care and a range of activities and therapies aimed at helping these special angels reach their full potential.
EDENVALE
Domitilla & Danny Hyams Home
Our Domitilla and Danny Hyams Home in Edenglen provides a bright, accessible environment for 150 children needing intensive care, with specialised therapies, activities and dedicated facilities.
About This Facility
Smaller children and those requiring intensive medical care generally live at our Domitilla and Danny Hyams Home, situated at 79 Wagenaar Road in Edenglen.
Built on one level for wheelchair accessibility, the Home comprises seven wings, where the children live in groups according to age and ability. There is a fully equipped kitchen, laundry, administration office, therapy centre, chapel, games hall and workshop.
Each of the 150 children has his or her own bed or cot; many also have specially adapted wheelchairs to assist them in sitting upright. Their days are spent in bright, airy and colourful rooms, where they are encouraged to participate in various activities and therapies according to their needs and level of development.
BAPSFONTEIN
Elvira Rota Village
At Elvira Rota Village in Bapsfontein, more mobile residents enjoy therapeutic activities, nature walks, and a vibrant, supportive community surrounded by gardens, wetlands, and wildlife.
About This Facility
Older, more mobile residents live at Elvira Rota Village, our 43ha Bapsfontein property, where they enjoy walks, horseback riding, cycling, and interacting with our dogs.
While some residents help with farming activities like collecting eggs and processing pecans, this is therapeutic rather than commercial. Many voluntarily assist with daily chores – rinsing dishes, folding laundry, or collecting litter – which provides a sense of achievement and belonging. They receive weekly treats as payment and take pride in their responsibilities.
Beyond living and therapeutic facilities, Elvira Rota Village features a full-size labyrinth for relaxation and meditation, musical chimes near the wetlands, and a sensory garden. Our environmental commitment is demonstrated through a water reclamation system that creates wetlands supporting diverse wildlife, filtering wastewater through ponds, a reed bed, and a waterfall until it’s safe to drink.

Charity Shops
Our two charity shops transform generosity into action. Located at 25, 7th Avenue, Edenvale, and 245 Baraba Road, Klopperpark, these shops sell quality preloved items donated by supporters, with all proceeds funding our care programs.
Volunteer Accommodation
We welcome long-term overseas volunteers by providing comfortable housing in both Edenvale and Bapsfontein. Each residence features private bathrooms, communal kitchens, and Wi-Fi, creating a home away from home for those dedicated to our mission.
Spiritual Care and Sacred Spaces
Chapels
Both LITTLE EDEN homes feature peaceful chapels open for Mass, memorial services, and special gatherings. These sacred spaces include remembrance areas honoring deceased residents. A highlight is the blessed “Holy Door” at Elvira Rota Village’s Holy Family Chapel, installed in 2016 as a powerful symbol of spiritual renewal and transformation.
Convent Ministry
Four devoted Sisters of the Imitation of Christ live within the LITTLE EDEN community, enriching daily life through childcare, developmental activities, and compassionate spiritual care for residents and staff alike.
