Show must go on!
It’s not clear at this stage what effect the continuing Covid-19 crisis may have on our plans. But, all being well, we hope to see our annual events back on track, even if only virtually.
March: Wheelchair Campaign
Our 4th annual LITTLE EDEN CEO Wheelchair Campaign™ takes place during Intellectual Disability Awareness Month. CEOs and senior managers of companies large and small are invited to spend one work day in a wheelchair to raise awareness of the challenges facing people with disabilities – and to raise funds for those in our care. For more information, please contact Zai Miller on tel. 011 609 7246 or email zm@littleeden.org.za.
May: Annual Fête
Please check social media and back here for details closer to the time, or contact Masana Shikwambane on tel. 011 609 7246 or email mus@littleeden.org.za.
Annual Christmas Concerts
Owing to the Covid-19 restrictions, and the need to keep our ‘angels’ safe, last year’s Christmas concerts were ‘virtual’.
Themed The Nativity Story: Angels in the Orchard, the Elvira Rota Village concert was filmed outdoors, taking you through the pecan nut and almond orchards, the shed, and other beautiful places within the grounds of Elvira Rota Village.
Expect the usual characters of Joseph and Mary, the angels, wise men, the shepherds and everything that goes into the traditional Christmas Story. Francesco the donkey, one of our farm animals, also has a starring role!
Don’t miss this unique opportunity to be truly touched by the magic of Christmas … shared through the enthusiasm and joy of the music therapy groups who worked so hard during the year to learn the words and tunes of the Christmas carols, and to play their musical instruments. We acknowledge and thank all ERV staff who worked with the residents to help them put such a beautiful concert together.
Unfortunately we won’t be able to host our usual Christmas market at the Village … or benefit from the proceeds. So if you feel moved to make a special donation in appreciation of all the effort our residents have put into the concert, please click the button below.
The Domitilla & Danny Hyams Home concert was entitled African Christmas. Set during a national lockdown in South Africa, it focuses attention on treasured memories and keeping spirits alive, as we continue to battle the coronavirus pandemic.
Watch as our main stars, Zach and Bridget, search for the spirit of the “great heart”. In their memories, they travel all across our beautiful country, sharing stories about family gatherings, birthday celebrations, wedding ceremonies, and celebrating sporting victories. At the end, Zach and Bridget conclude that the love of Jesus is the “great heart” that will get South Africa through the Covid19 pandemic.
Grateful thanks to our Music Therapist, Jessica Landzaad and her team at Domitilla and Danny Hyams Home for putting the concert together with patience and commitment to our angels.
We’d also like to thank friends like you for everything you do … and everything you mean to all of us at LITTLE EDEN.
