Amputee Estienne Arndt to tackle Kalahari Augrabies Marathon for LITTLE EDEN

Get behind amputee Estienne Arndt, who will tackle the gruelling Kalahari Augrabies Extreme Marathon to raise funds for LITTLE EDEN.

Never one to back away from a challenge, in 1996 Estienne was the first amputee to finish the Comrades Marathon with a prosthesis. Prior to losing his foot in a motorcycle accident, he famously ran Comrades in a kilt and slip slops in 1987.

From 6-14 October, Estienne, now aged 69, will tackle the self-sufficient, staged foot race across the Kalahari Desert. With 250km to cover in seven days, this is known as the ‘Big Daddy’ of extreme marathons around the world.

“After 10 years of not really having done much in the way of extreme, this will be my final chance to do something to support the team at LITTLE EDEN take care of children and adults with profound intellectual disabilities,” he said. “In my eyes, they are all angels.”
