Michael Vieira Cardoso from Flender (Pty) Ltd reports back on the Wheelchair Challenge

“Thank you for having an initiative such as this, allowing me to have the experience I just had.

I was surprised at the ache in my body after spending the day in the wheelchair. This made me realise the discomfort that comes with having to spend one’s life in one. I was also very alive to colleagues’ reaction to having someone in a wheelchair in the office.

Our office building is not wheelchair friendly at all being a two storey building. This we know. But in addition, the day highlighted many other shortcomings with regard to access in the offices and kitchens.

I am very happy to have participated in this event – firstly to assist a very good cause, and secondly for the snapshot it gave into the plight of those in a wheelchair permanently. Thank you again for the opportunity, and the great work Little Eden does for society.”
